Pentair FNS Plus D.E. Filter
It use to be that pool filters were stainless steel and would last forever. That has changed. Stainless steel isn’t as good as it use to be. It now rusts and cracks. They then started to make filters out of fiber glass, but the fibers would break down in the UV light from the sun. Now most filters are made of some kind of plastic mold. The cheapest filter is the Hayward D.E. filter. This filter is prone to cracking in the tank.Jandy filters are expensive and hard to clean due to the clamps. Pentair makes many kinds of filters. The best and most popular filter is the FNS Plus.
The FNS Plus filter is easy to clean. I never have seen one crack at the tank. The backwash valve is on the outside of the tank and is easy to repair. All the grids lift out in one piece when cleaning the filter. The grids will last longer if you just leave it connected to the top & bottom manifold and clean as one piece.
You only have to disassemble the grids when one breaks or rips due to age. D.E filters filter the best. They filter more microns than cartridge or sand filters. The FNS Plus comes with a 1-year warranty on parts & labor. Pentair offers up to 3-years warranty on all equipment. The way this works is you get 1-extra year per equipment item installed at the same time, up to 3 years.
